“I think wireless electricity is reasonably close. No further breakthroughs are required, the researchers say, just continued engineering work to find the optimum design of the coils and the electrical control systems.”
André Kurs – MIT news, April 2010
The presence of technology can, more than many other things in a photograph, give you an idea of when it was taken. Objects such as cars with fins, oversized mobile phones, a cassette Walkman or a bulky TV-set can help date the photograph, at times even indicating the precise year it was taken. This series of photographs show technology that is rapidly becoming obsolete. As even electricity eventually becomes wireless, these graphic signatures will disappear from the city skylines, thereby dating the photographs to the early 21st century.
